OIC Condemns Terrorist Attack in Tripoli, Libya

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) issued a strong condemnation of the terrorist attack perpetrated on Thursday, 23 August 2018, at the Kaam Gate, East of Tripoli, capital of Libya, and which resulted in four casualties among the security forces and at least seven more wounded. The Secretary General, Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, described this act as a criminal one aimed at obstructing the national dialogue efforts and at shaking the country’s security and stability. He also urged the local authorities to make all possible efforts to track and arrest the perpetrators and those standing behind them and to bring them to trial.

The Secretary General further extended his deep condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government and people of the State of Libya in the aftermath of this tragic event and the resulting loss of innocent lives, and expressed his wishes for prompt recovery to the wounded.

Al-Othaimeen renewed, on the occasion, the OIC’s firm stand against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, irrespective of the party standing behind it, and reiterated the OIC’s unwavering solidarity with the Government of the State of Libya in its resolute fight against terrorism.
