Libya


The situation in Libya, another founder member of the OIC, remains a source of deep concern of the OIC. The organization has been following with great concern the deteriorating political and security situation in Libya. On the basis of its principled position the OIC has been emphasizing the need to preserve the unity, sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity of Libya and protecting its borders from illegal emigration, terrorist gangs, drugs and weapons proliferation. 

The Organization called for support and backing for the legitimacy in Libya and the efforts to build State institutions and stressed the importance of sound democratic transition and the adoption of a new constitution that guarantees freedoms, rule of law, smooth transfer of power through full participation of all the Libyan people and the building of a new democratic Libya. The OIC supports the UN efforts to stabilize Libya and stands by Libya in its transition and beyond.The OIC also condemned the  proliferation of terrorist groups such as DAESH, Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram which constitute a serious danger to the security and the stability of Libya, its neighboring countries and the entire region.
