Political Affairs


The Department of Political Affairs follows up on political developments in the Muslim world in general and oversees relations with non-OIC countries and international and regional organizations. The department is entrusted with files on promoting mediation, conflict prevention and resolution, crisis management in Member States and contributing to peace-building initiatives in accordance with decisions adopted by the Islamic Summit and the Councils of Foreign Ministers. It is also engaged in the institutionalization of good governance in Member States through monitoring of elections and democratic practices. Combating international terrorism and studies various international and regional political issues are also important tasks of the department. In addition, the department is tasked with following up and monitoring issues affecting Muslim minorities and communities in non-OIC Member States.

Activities
  • 05/10/2016 - Amb. Tarig received the German Consul General Mr. Holger Ziegeler and the Australian Ambassador Mr. Ralph King at the General Secretariat on 05 and 06 October 2016 respectively. During the meeting both sides discussed mutual issues and reviewed ways and means to strengthen their bilateral relations.
