OIC Calls for Prompt Support to Morocco Following Earthquake Tragedy

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H. E. Hissein Brahim Taha, has appealed to OIC Member States, its relevant humanitarian institutions, and all international partners to contribute to the rescue efforts undertaken by the Moroccan authorities following the devastating earthquake that struck several regions in the Kingdom of Morocco on Friday, 8 September 2023. The earthquake has left hundreds of people dead and thousands injured.
The Secretary-General praised the immediate response and measures taken by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to rescue the affected population, provide them with support, and limit the earthquake's impact. He reiterated his sincere condolences and sympathies to the King, government, and people of Morocco, and his solidarity with the families of the victims and missing persons. He prayed to God Almighty to bestow His mercy upon the dead, grant the wounded a speedy recovery, and help the rescue teams find the missing.
