Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, held a virtual meeting today, 28 September 2020, with Ambassador Patrick Simonet, on assuming his duties as the new Special Envoy of the European Union (EU) to the OIC.
During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of OIC-EU cooperation and partnership and ways to promote them in various fields. They also discussed the most important issues of common interest and the efforts made by the OIC and the EU to respond to the Coronavirus pandemic, combat terrorism and extremism, and promote moderation and coexistence.
The two sides commended the outcomes of the fourth meeting between OIC and EU senior officials held on July 15, 2020, and emphasized the importance of continuing such encounters.
