OIC Calls for Peaceful Settlement of Kashmir Dispute

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC) has been following the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with concern and calls for increased efforts to reach a negotiated settlement of the dispute. In this regard, the OIC welcomes the recent statement of the UN Secretary General on the issue and recalls the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions as guiding principles for peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.

Reiterating OIC Summit decisions and Council of Foreign Ministers’ resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, the OIC General Secretariat further supports the request of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to convene an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to consider the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, address the humanitarian situation and deliberate towards resolving the dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.
