The OIC-Russian Federation political consultations took place in the Russian capital, Moscow, on 8 and 9 November 2018 at the headquarters of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The consultations reviewed the state of OIC-Russian Federation bilateral relations in all fields. Both sides underscored the importance of strengthening the relations, diversifying their fields of cooperation and encouraging participation in conferences and forums organized by both sides. They exchanged views on developments relating to several regional and international issues.
On November 9, the OIC-Russian Federation Consultations on International Cooperation in Countering Terrorism was held. The two sides discussed issues of countering the spread of extremist ideology and propaganda, and the recruitment of militants by the international terrorist organizations. The meeting also highlighted the interaction between government institutions and religious communities for countering and preventing terrorism.
The OIC delegation was later received by Army General Oleg Syromolotov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, where both sides reviewed the key aspects of current global threats.
