The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is participating in the “Preparatory workshop for Regional Consultation of the Middle East and North Africa” which would be held in the Jordanian capital, Amman on 16 February 2015. The workshop is being organized in collaboration between the United Nations, the OIC and the Arab League. The OIC would be represented at the meeting by Ambassador Hisham Yousef, Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs. The meeting is meant to discuss preparations for the World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) to be held in Turkey in May 2016. It would also discuss several other issues, notably: protection of civilians, humanitarian access, addressing vulnerability through emergency preparedness, disaster risk reduction and building resilience, responding to protracted crises and humanitarian financing. Also to be discussed is coordination and partnership in humanitarian action. This meeting is part of a series of meetings to be held in preparation for the World Humanitarian Summit.
