The OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, hailed the initiative of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, for reconciliation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar, and praised the keen interest of King Abdullah to promote Arab and Islamic solidarity and clear the air between all Arab and Islamic countries. Madani also welcomed the sincerity and positive response demonstrated by the leaders of the two countries towards the initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and their readiness to open a new chapter of relations that turns the page on the past and sets the stage for a promising era of cooperation and solidarity between Egypt and Qatar for the benefit of their peoples and the nations of the Arab and Islamic Ummah.
