Teheran hosts the 10th Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers on 1 to 4 December 2014

The deliberations of the 10th Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers (ICIM) will kick off with the theme “Media Convergence for Peace and Calm in the Islamic World” in Teheran, the capital city of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Monday, December 1, 2014. The Conference will be preceded by a senior officials meeting to discuss the draft resolutions. The meeting of the Ministers of Information and Communication will be held on 3-4 December, 2014. The Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, H.E. Ali Jannati and H.E. Iyad Ameen Madani, OIC Secretary General, will participate in the opening session. This Session will consider a number of important issues in the domain of information including the role of media in supporting the cause of Al-Quds ASharif and the Blessed Aqsa Mosque, and that is by exposing the aggressive policy of the occupation and its designs aimed violating all Islamic sanctities on the land of Palestine and judaizing Al-Quds, as well as shedding light on the continued blatant crimes of the occupation against civilians in the Gaza Strip. The Session will also discuss means of information-related action, in cooperation with information institutions in Member States and international information institutions, to face-up to the dangers of extremism and Islamophobia, the means of supporting joint Islamic action institutions and information coordination among OIC institutions, in addition to promoting cooperation among information institutions in Member States. The Conference will also discuss the promotion of the OIC information role in pioneering the issues of cultural exchanges, development and peace and the possibility of establishing a publication unit inside the Information Department at the OIC General Secretariat.
