OIC Secretary General Calls for an Inclusive Political Transition in Burkina Faso

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Iyad Amen Madani has appealed for the immediate return of calm and normalcy in Burkina Faso. Mr Madani who stated that the OIC has been following the unfolding events in Burkina Faso, has urged all the stakeholders to engage in a constructive and inclusive dialogue with a view to agreeing on an arrangement that could lead the country to a peaceful transition. He reminded them of the importance of preserving national unity and work to achieve reconciliation by avoiding any act that is capable of undermining the supreme interest of their country and its stability. The Secretary General then reiterated the solidarity of the OIC with the people of Burkina Faso and assured them of the readiness of the Organization to bring its full support to their endeavors to consolidate democracy and confront the challenges of development.
