The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has condemned the terrorist bombing that took place in Bir Hasan district in the southern suburb of Beirut, deploring it as an offensive act that targets innocent civilians and destroys public and private property. The Secretary General explained that this horrific terrorist act was a source of deep concern for the OIC because it threatens peace, security and stability in Lebanon, particularly at this delicate moment the country was going through. He called on all Lebanese parties to put the interest of Lebanon above all other considerations and not to allow enemies seeking to undermine security and peace and draw Lebanon into chaos with unpredictable consequences. Ihsanoglu emphasized the principled position of the OIC that strongly condemns all forms and manifestations of terrorist acts and extremism.
