The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu received today, Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his office, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) Dr. Nabil El-Arabi. The two secretaries general discussed regional issues, particularly the Palestinian issue and the Israeli settlements, in addition to the fallouts to the Syrian crisis, Islamophobia and other issues of mutual concern.
During their meeting, the two sides stressed on increasing the cooperation and coordination between the OIC and the LAS, especially with regards their work at the United Nations. The meeting further addressed the need for joint cooperation and coordination between the two organizations and their member states over the conference for making the Middle East a zone free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction that is supposed to take place in Helsinki, Finland.
