The Special Envoy of Australia to the OIC Mr. Ahmed Fahour paid a visit to the OIC Headquarters on 4 December 2012. Mr. Fahour held consultations with the Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs Ambassador Hameed Opeloyeru as well as with the officials from the Secretary General’s Cabinet and the Political Affairs Department of the General Secretariat. Both sides had useful and extensive exchange of views on various issues of common interest. Particularly, they examined the possible means and ways of intensified bilateral cooperation under the framework of the OIC-Australia Cooperation Framework which was concluded during the OIC Secretary General’s official visit to Australia early 2012. Mr. Fahour handed over a letter addressed to the OIC Secretary General by the Australian Foreign Minister Senator the Hon Bob Carr reiterating the commitment of Australia to further develop its relations with the OIC.
