The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, expressed his strong condemnation of the decision by the Israeli occupation authorities to approve the construction of 3000 settlement units in the West Bank and the occupied city of Jerusalem, considering it a challenge to the will of the international community which rejected the Israeli occupation and its policies by voting in favour of the State of Palestine at the General Assembly of the United Nations. The OIC Secretary General added that the continuation of Israeli settlement construction and expansion, in the Palestinian territory, reaffirms the significance of referring this dossier to the relevant international bodies, especially the UN Security Council and General Assembly, to shoulder their responsibilities and exercise their mandate towards the recurrent Israeli violations and attacks on the territory of the State of Palestine, being war crimes that must be immediately stopped.
