The Supervisory and Coordinating Committee for the 2nd Islamic Solidarity Games, set up by the Executive Committee of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF), led by Dr. Muahmmad Salih Qasdar, ISSF President, concluded a one week official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Delegation held important meetings with the competent Iranian authorities, on the efforts exerted to organize the games to be hosted by Iran in October 2009, and to agree on a timetable for the commitments of the Iranian organizing committee and the ISSF. It also visited the sports cities and facilities in which the games are to be organized (Teheran, Esfahan and Mashhad).The Delegation commended the arrangements taken by Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard and called for concerted efforts to ensure the success of the games. Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakheit, OIC representative in the ISSFEC and SCC member underlined, during the meetings, the interest displayed the Secretary General, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, to this tournament with the framework of the new vision of the OIC and in line with the objectives set forth in the OIC Ten-year Program of Action adopted the 3rd Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Summit which reaffirmed the need to promote Islamic solidarity through sports and mobilization of the energies of the youth of the Muslim ummah. He also underlined the Organization's keenness to exert efforts and coordinate with all relevant parties to realize the objectives of the Games. It is to be noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted successfully the 1st Islamic Solidarity Games in April 2005.
