The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, congratulated Dr Muhammad Saad Al Katatni on his election as Speaker of the People’s Assembly (Parliament) of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the first free and fair election in Egypt in 60 years. In his message to Dr Muhammad Al-Katatni, the Secretary General assured that the support of the OIC for the Egyptian revolution since it began would continue. He also assured that the Organisation would continue to stand by the Egyptian people to realize their legitimate aspirations for democracy, political participation and comprehensive development in accordance with the OIC Charter and Ten-Year Programme of Action. Ihsanoglu renewed the readiness of the OIC to continue its support for the Arab Republic of Egypt in this defining stage of its history for the good, prosperity and glory of Egypt and its people.
