The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, welcomed the recognition by the Kingdom of Thailand, of the free independent State of Palestine within the 1967 borders. He noted that this step, which comes from an OIC observer state, constitutes an important qualitative development in terms of international support for inalienable Palestinian national rights. The Secretary-General expressed the hope that other States will follow suit so as to achieve a broad international recognition of the free state of Palestine with full sovereignty over all Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in 1967 with the eastern part of Al-Quds.
