Congratulating President Al Marzouki on the First Anniversary of the 14th January Revolution Ihsanoglu: Tunisia has Changed the Course of History

Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed his heartfelt congratulations and highest regard to Dr. Mohamed Moncef Al Marzouki, President of the Republic of Tunisia, along with his feelings of admiration and respect for the Tunisian people, on the occasion of the First Anniversary of the glorious 14th January Revolution. In a press statement on the occasion, Ihsanoglu said that the revolution of the valiant people of Tunisia had opened broad horizons for freedom, justice, democratic change and good governance, not only in Tunisia but also for many other peoples in the region. He noted that a real change in the course of history had been brought about by the 14th January revolution. The OIC General Secretariat made a point, on the occasion, of remembering and praying for the souls of the martyrs of the Dignity Revolution in Tunisia who had laid down their lives for the glory and dignity of their country. Ihsanoglu reiterated, on the occasion, the OIC’s determination to keep up its support and assistance for the Tunisian people’s efforts and aspiration towards democracy and sustained development.
