OIC Condemns Settlement Expansion in East Jerusalem and Calls on International Community to Rise up to its Duty

Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation expressed his vigorous condemnation of the approval given by the Israeli occupation authorities for the construction of 130 new settlement units in the Gilo Settlement in occupied East Jerusalem. The OIC Secretary General considered that the Israeli settlement policy aimed at imposing new fait – accomplish on the ground in occupied Jerusalem constitutes a blatant crime and violation of international law and UN resolutions The Secretary General called on the UN Security Council and the Quartet adopt a firm stand and compel Israel to put an end to all its violations and crimes against the Palestinian people and their national rights.
