The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has strongly condemned the reported attempted military coup d’état on 26th December 2011 in the West Africa state of Guinea Bissau and called for the respect of constitutional order in the country. Prof Ihsanoglu, who reiterated his solidarity with Guinea Bissau, also restated the position of the OIC against any unconstitutional change government. He urged the armed forces and other stakeholders to avoid any acts that could destabilize the nation and undermine its peace, stability and development.
