OIC SECRETARY GENERAL RECEIVES ALGERIAN CONSUL GENERAL

The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, received at the OIC General Secretariat on 26 December 2011 the Consul General of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Jeddah H.E. Mr Saleh Attiya, who delivered to him two letters, one from the Algerian president H.E. Mr Abdelaziz BOUTEFLIKA and the other from the Foreign Minister of Algeria, Mr Mourad MEDELCI.
In the letter, H.E. President Bouteflika reiterated Algeria’s determination to steadily strengthen its bilateral relations with the OIC. He also commended the efforts of Professor Ihsanoglu in improving the work and performance of the OIC. For his part, H.E. Mr Mourad MEDELCI directed an invitation to the Secretary General to dispatch a delegation of OIC observers to the legislative elections to be organized by Algeria in the spring of 2012.
The Secretary General for his part lauded President Bouteflika’s commitment to continued support of joint Islamic action and the special attention Algeria pays to the OIC and the support of its activities.
