In these blessed days of Christmas and the advent of a New Year, I would like to convey to the Christian world my sincere greeting wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. In this solemn anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ, we recall his divine message of love, peace, tolerance and forgiveness that Jesus brought to the whole world, and which impacted and induced all humans to work for the good of humanity. Islam and Christianity share the same divine message of God, this fact should urge us to work together, hand in hand to bring about a better world for mankind. At this occasion we also pray God to bestow on us all his benediction to usher the new year in an era of peace, concord, and prosperity. As we celebrate with joy and happiness this glorious anniversary, we cannot but express our sadness, indignation and condemnation to the senseless and heinous crimes perpetrated by an extremist group that targeted worshippers attending Christmas services in some Churches in Nigeria and falsely trying to associate their criminal action to Islam. In these difficult times and as we reiterate our denunciation of these crimes we convey our condolences to the bereaved families and pray for quick recovery for the wounded.
