Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, expressed his strong condemnation of the terrorist attacks in Baghdad on Thursday, December 22, 2011 which have left many innocent victims dead or wounded. The Secretary-General expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Secretary-General urged the Iraqi people of all sects and political sides to preserve unity and prevent acts of terrorism and to fight against the insurgency in the Iraqi communities. He also noted the importance and the need to preserve the Makkah Document of 2006, sponsored by the Organization Islamic Cooperation to renounce violence and extremism. He expressed the willingness of OIC to hold a second meeting to make operational the Makkah Document.
