An OIC delegation holds talks with Kenyan Foreign Minister

OIC delegation led by Ambassador Atta El-Manan Bakhit, Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs had an audience on 20th December 2011 with H.E. Mr. Moses M. Wetang'ula, E.G.H., MP, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters in Nairobi. Present at this audience were Kenya Foreign Ministry Permanent Secretary, Mr. Thuita Mwangi and the Director in the Middle East Directorate, Amb. Ali Abbas, and members of the OIC accompanying delegation. Amb. Manan conveyed the greetings of H.E. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanglu, the OIC Secretary General and expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Kenya and the OIC on the humanitarian situation in Somalia, and the subsequent approval by Kenyan authorities of the establishment of the OIC Liaison Office in Nairobi. H.E. Wetang'ula expressed appreciation of the OIC humanitarian intervention in Somalia and looked forward to enhanced cooperation in the humanitarian field, stressing the need to work on the recovery phase to enable displaced persons return to their homes. Foreign Minister Wetang’ula stated that further discussions will be initiated towards a MoU between the OIC and the Government of Kenya on more cooperation in Somalia.
