Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation received in his office in Jeddah on Saturday, 10 December 2011, a delegation from the Republic of Gabon, comprised of Mr. Ali Radjoumba, Advisor at the Presidency, Amb. Jeannette Engandzas and Mr.Jean Robert El Mut Moutchinga Boulingui, both Advisors to the Minister of Communication. The Secretary General laid stress on his committed resolve to ensure optimal success for this conference due to be held for the first time at this level in Gabon and in Central Africa in general. The delegation offered a presentation before the Secretary General, on the arrangements already underway for the convening of the Ninth Session of the OIC Information Ministers Conference due to be held in Libreville from 17 to 20 April, 2012. the Delegation also conveyed to the Secretary General the greetings of H.E. President Ali Bongo Ondimba of the Republic of Gabon and those of the Gabonese Minister of Communications. In return, the OIC Secretary General welcomed the Gabonese Delegation and expressed gratitude to the Republic of Gabon for its kind offer to host the Ministerial Conference which will focus on a number of vital information issues which will boost Intra-Islamic solidarity in the area of information and communications. Similarly, the Delegation held a coordination meeting on 11 December 2011 with the OIC General Secretariat’s senior officials, in which they reviewed the different logistics aspects and issues included on the agenda of the Conference which will bring together the OIC Member States’ Information Ministers. Emphasis was placed on the need to do everything possible to ensure optimal conditions for the Conference in view of the distinct importance of information under the current developments in the Islamic world.
