The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed great concern over reports on to the deteriorating security condition in the city of Homs, Syria. The Secretary General appealed to the Syrian authorities to exercise restraint, not to use violence, and to resort to wisdom and peaceful means in order to prevent bloodshed of the Syrian people, and to ensure safety and security of Syria in consistence with the pledges made by the Syrian government during the OIC Executive Committee meeting held at the ministerial level on 01 December 2011.
