A conference organized by the League of Arab States on humanitarian support to Darfur is taking place in Khartoum on 30-31 October 2007. The conference is dedicated to the provision of humanitarian assistance to Darfur. Ambassador Atta Al-Manan Bakhit, Assistant Secretary General for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs is attending the conference on behalf of the OIC Secretary General, H.E. Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu. Expressing OIC’s commitment for peace in Darfur, Prof. Ihsanoglu. underlines the importance of humanitarian aid as a means to promote the cause of peace in Darfur.
