The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu received the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan His Excellency Ali Hasanov at his office yesterday on October 23, 2007 in Jeddah. The Deputy Prime Minister paid a courtesy visit to the OIC General Secretariat. The Deputy Prime Minister commended the efforts of the Secretary General in particular his initiative to introduce reforms in the Organization. He expressed his satisfaction and happiness at the proactive role that the OIC is playing for the peace, stability and development in the Muslim World. The Secretary General thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his kind visit to the General Secretariat. He also thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his country’s continued support to the OIC and praised the role played by Azerbaijan as the Chair of the 33rd ICFM. The Secretary General and the Deputy Prime Minister touched on issues of mutual concerns during their discussion. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the support of the OIC to Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The meeting ended wishing further development and continuation of the existing excellent cooperation between the OIC and Azerbaijan by both the leaders.
