A delegation from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), headed by the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Afghanistan, Ambassador Martin Kobler, visited the OIC Headquarters on 15 December 2010. During the meetings with the UNAMA Delegation and the senior officials of the OIC General Secretariat, the latest political developments in Afghanistan as well as the activities of UNAMA were reviewed. Furthermore, potential areas of cooperation between the OIC and the UNAMA, particularly in political and humanitarian fields were also exhaustively discussed. Ambassador Kobler was also received by H.E. Prof. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, Secretary General of the OIC, and Ambassador Abdullah Alim, Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs. As a result of the meetings, it was agreed to maintain further contacts through the new OIC Special Representative, Ambassador A.H.M. Moniruzzaman, who will be stationed in Kabul in the coming days.
