H.E. the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, inaugurated the sixty-seventh session of the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the headquarters of the OIC General Secretariat. The OIC Secretary General expressed thanks and gratitude to all Member States that donate to the ISF, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for their generous and ongoing voluntary annual donation to support the resources of the ISF and its Waqf.
In his speech during the opening session of the meeting, Hissein Brahim Taha noted the important role of the ISF, which has occupied a prominent position among global institutions concerned with humanitarian issues, stressing that its establishment in 1974 was a practical step to consolidate the concept of Islamic solidarity among Muslims in all parts of the world. He called on Member States to contribute to supporting the ISF financially with voluntary donations, as the ISF is an important humanitarian financial arm of the OIC.
The Secretary-General also stressed that it is important for the ISF to continue its support for the projects in Al-Quds in addition to health and educational projects in the State of Palestine, in a way that strengthens the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, in the face of the fierce attack and unjust siege of the Zionist occupation.
