OIC ASG for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs received a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia

The OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, received on Sunday, 17 December 2023, a delegation of Indonesian officials led by H.E Prof. Dr. Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, along with his accompanying delegation.

The meeting came as a follow-up to the successful cultural week held in partnership between the OIC and the Government of Indonesia, on 7-14 July 2023, in which a number of OIC Member States and institutions participated.

The meeting was a good opportunity to go over a number of issues related to the multiform cooperation between the two parties, namely in the cultural field as well as in the area of capacity building for youth in the wider geography of the OIC. H.E. the Deputy Minister expressed the desire to host more events in cooperation with the OIC, especially the OIC Cultural Festival and the OIC Youth Forums among other events of added value to objective-oriented programs of the OIC geared towards serving the bigger goals of the Islamic world.

Both parties agreed on the necessity to build on the success of the OIC-CA 2023 event to explore other areas of common interest that could reinforce the already excellent relations between Indonesia and the OIC General Secretariat and advance the OIC agenda in terms of bringing the Member States together and consolidating the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and solidarity among them.
