The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu warned against Israel’s destruction of the bridge linking the Holy Mosque to the Moroccans’ Gate. The Secretary-General considered this measure to be an aggression against the sanctity of the place of ascension of the Prophet (peace and prayer be upon him) that may have dire consequences. Besides, he qualified this act as a flagrant violation of the international laws which prohibit the occupying State from tampering with or altering the religious or historical landmarks of the occupied territory. The Secretary-General requested the international community to put its pressure to bear on Israel in order to prevent it from proceeding with its plans against the city of Al Quds and the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque.
