The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the extremist minister of the Israeli occupation government; Itamar Ben Gvir’s storming into the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, violating its sanctity under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces. It considered this as a provocation to the feelings of all Muslims, and a flagrant and unacceptable violation of international law and the historical and legal status quo in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The OIC also reaffirmed that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a pure place of worship for Muslims only, and that Israel, the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the city of Al-Quds and its sanctities. It called at the same time on the international community to assume its responsibilities to put an end to such serious and repeated violations of the sanctity of holy places and freedom of worship, and the need to preserve the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian sanctities in the occupied city of Al-Quds.
