The ‏‏ Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports and the Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural, Social and Family Affairs launched the official opening ceremony of the OIC - Indonesia cultural week

The Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports and the Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural, Social and Family Affairs launched on July 8th 2023 the official opening ceremony of the OIC-Indonesia cultural week which extends over the period 7-14 July.

‏The official launching of this event was attended by a number of Member States representatives, Ambassadors accredited in Jakarta and OIC institutions and Universities. Many Indonesian government agencies including the Ministries of Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Youth and Sports attended the ceremony.
‏In his speech on this occasion, the Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Dito Ariatedjo, noted that the cultural diversity and rich civilisation of Indonesia will be reflected in the series of artistic performances and cultural expressions that will permeate the flow of activities and events throughout this cultural week.

‏The Minister also affirmed that the holding of this event in Indonesia aims at giving participants from OIC bigger family the opportunity to witness the smooth and steady development of Indonesia and to experience the multiple facets of its rich and genuine culture.

‏On his turn, Ambassador Tariq Bakheet thanked the Indonesian leadership, government and people for such a brilliant organization of this cultural week and for the warm hospitality extended to all delegations.

‏The ASG affirmed that after the successful holding last year of the OIC Cultural days in Uganda, the holding of this cultural week in Indonesia comes to highlight, if need be, the importance of culture and cultural diplomacy as means of rapprochement between our Muslim communities which holds the potential of fostering bonds of friendship, mutual respect and solidarity within OIC member States and Institutions.

‏It is worthy to note that the OIC- Indonesia cultural week held under the banner « embracing diversity and advancing harmony for a brighter future society» will know the organization of various academic panels on issues of interfaith dialogue, new cultural challenges in the age of Globalisation and youth, innovation and technology along with artistic shows, sessions for cultural expressions and other activities reflecting the vivid cultural diversity in Indonesia and the OIC member states.
