OIC Secretary-General Congratulates Africa on the Celebration of Africa Day

On the occasion of "World Africa Day", celebrated every year on 25 May to commemorate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, which became the African Union (AU) in 2002, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H. E. Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, extended his congratulations to African countries and the African Union (AU) and hailed the progress made by the AU in promoting peace and security and in the social, cultural and economic fields for the benefit of the peoples of the African continent. He underlined the important place that Africa occupies in the priorities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and called on the international community to give greater support to Africa's efforts to meet the challenges it faces, strengthen peace and stability and realize the aspirations of its peoples for comprehensive development and prosperity.
