The Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, Ambassador Ezzat Kamel Mufti today, 31St January received in audience on behalf of the OIC Secretary General, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the new South African Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Mr. John Andrew Davies, who paid a courtesy call on the General Secretariat. The envoy after tracing the historical relations between South Africa and the Muslim world, reiterated the determination of his country to further develop these ties in all domains using the platform of the OIC. On his part, Ambassador Mufti congratulated the envoy on his appointment and looked forward to a new era of cooperation between the OIC and South Africa. He also commended South Africa for its sustained interest in the OIC and its activities.
