The OIC Secretary General Underscores That Islamic Finance Industry Holds Great Promise For Promoting Sustainable Development In OIC Member States

The Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, underscored that Islamic finance industry holds great promise for promoting socio-economic development of OIC Member States on a sustainable basis.

This message is contained in the Secretary General’s keynote address at the 8th International Islamic Finance Conference organized by the Effat University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on 13th March, 2023. In the address, which was read on his behalf by Dr. Ahmad Sengendo, Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha underscored the significance which OIC attaches to the development of the Islamic financial industry. The Secretary General also extolled the efforts of the relevant OIC institutions towards development of Islamic financial industry in OIC Member States.

The International Conference, which is being held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Lolowah Al Faisal, focuses on the Mergers and Acquisition Trends and Islamic Finance in Saudi Arabia and around the world; Fintech and Sustainability in Islamic Finance; Islamic Finance Alternatives; and Current Issues in Islamic Finance. Uniting a host of high-profile speakers, academics, and policymakers, the event also explores the latest innovations, opportunities, and challenges facing the global Islamic financial industry.
