The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha, received today at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, H.E. Mr. Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs of the Republic of Singapore along with his delegation.
H.E. Mr. Masagos Zulkifli apprised the Secretary-General about the steps taken by his Government in the interest of the Muslim community including free education and other benefits, and shared Singapore’s experience of effective integration of the Muslim community resulting in peaceful coexistence.
He informed the Secretary-General about the Singapore’s approach on issue of minorities and apprised the Secretary-General about the importance his government attaches to the institution of family. He expressed his government’s willingness to work with OIC in this regard.
The Secretary-General stressed the importance that OIC attaches to the well-being of Muslim communities and minorities all over the world and expressed his appreciation of the measures taken by the Government of Singapore. He expressed the OIC’s willingness to constructively engage with the government of Singapore on issues of mutual concern and importance.
