On the International Translation Day marked on 30 September every year by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, the OIC General Secretariat affirms its appreciation of the role of the translator in promoting communication and facilitating dialogue among cultures and peoples.
While recalling the importance of the translators’ task in promoting joint Islamic action in various fields, the OIC General Secretariat commends the great efforts translators have discharged since the founding of the OIC, in mitigating linguistic and cultural barriers to communication among Member States, both at various events by the OIC and those in which it participates.
On this occasion, the OIC calls for the strengthening of initiatives aimed at advancing institutions that deal with and engage in teaching translation in the Muslim world.
