Amb. Tarig Ali Bakhiet, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs and Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Afghanistan, held a virtual consultative meeting with H.E. Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates. The meeting that took place on June 15, 2022, was attended by HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the OIC.
Discussions focused on the latest developments in Afghanistan and the OIC’s efforts to follow up on the implementation of the resolution adopted by the extraordinary ministerial session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in Islamabad in December 2021 regarding the situation in Afghanistan.
The Special Envoy praised the decades-old humanitarian and development support provided by the United Arab Emirates to the Afghan people.
