The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference Receives Turkey's Foreign Minister.

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, will meet in his office on Friday 01/01/2010 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Professor Ahmet Davutoğlu and the delegation accompanying him. The discussions of the Secretary General with the Foreign Minister of Turkey will be centered on the issue of bilateral relations between the OIC and the Republic of Turkey and ways to develop these relations for the benefit of the causes of the Muslim Ummah and its interests. Discussions will also cover the forthcoming international Darfur donor's conference due to be held in Cairo, capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, under the joint chairmanship of Turkey and Egypt. The situation in Somalia will also be addressed in the negotiations which will discuss the possibility of launching projects in the fields of education and health, the provision of assistance to alleviate poverty and reduce the impact of the humanitarian crisis in this country, and other development projects. Furthermore, Ihsanoglu will examine with the Turkish Minister the political and security situation in Afghanistan and the role of Turkey and the Islamic World in bringing peace and stability to this country, while emphasizing the ineffectiveness of the military resolution. Discussions will also cover the serious developments in the occupied City of Al-Quds and ways to address them.
