The Secretary General of the Organization receives a response letter on Al-Quds Al-Sharif from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) received a letter from Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on the situation in Al-Quds in response to the letter sent to him by the Secretary General. In his letter, Mr. Lavrov pointed to the necessity to find a just and permanent resolution to the issue of Al-Quds Al-Sharif based on international law and on UN resolutions and by virtue of the roadmap. He also stated that Russia will continue to exert intensive efforts in the issue of Al-Quds and in other issues of conflict in the Middle East in order to prevent the exacerbation of the situation. He considered that it is important to concentrate on the situation in Al-Quds Al-Sharif during the upcoming meeting of the Security Council on the Middle East. The Russian Minister expressed Russia's solidarity with the Palestinian people and demonstrated his country 's readiness to examine this issue and exchange views and opinions in order to coordinate possible steps to be made in the issue of Al-Quds during the next consultative meeting between the Delegation of the OIC and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
