The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Honduras transferring its embassy to the occupied city of al-Quds, calling the move an illegitimate action and a violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, particularly Security Council resolution 478 (1980), which calls on the UN member states to withdraw their diplomatic missions from the sacred city.
Further, the OIC General Secretariat called on the Republic of Honduras to reverse its illegal decision, stressing the need for the international community to engage in the effort to achieve a just and comprehensive peace settlement, based on the UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, providing for the two-state solution and the establishment of the State of Palestine with eastern al-Quds as capital.
