The Secretary General of the OIC, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has strongly condemned the attack yesterday at the Mustansiriya University Campus in Baghdad which killed 65 people mostly female students and lecturers and wounding 110 others. 2. With this latest escalation of violence targeting an educational institution seeking to develop critical human capacities for the development of Iraq, Prof. Ihsanoglu noted that this kind of incident could only contribute to the deterioration of the educational sector already affected by the on going sectarian violence. 3. While restating the OIC’s previous calls for the end of the senseless carnage in Iraq, especially against the innocent, the Secretary General appealed to all Iraqis to continue to seek dialogue and reconciliation as the only way to restore lasting peace and security to their country.
