Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr Yousef Al-Othaimeen, took part in the 14th meeting of the Board of Trustees of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), held via videoconference on 30 June 2020, to discuss issues of importance to the university and its endowment fund.
The meeting was presided over by Dr Arif Alvi, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Chancellor of the IIUI and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Addressing the meeting, the OIC Secretary General stressed the importance of the fight against extremism and terrorism, underlining the need to gear higher education to meet the scientific goals of the Muslim Ummah.
“Joint Islamic action has reached significant levels under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairperson of the Islamic Summit, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, may Allah protect them,” Said Al-Othaimeen
The meeting featured nomination of Dr Hathal bin Hamoud Al-Otaibi (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) to serve as President of the IIUI.
