The Organization of Islamic Cooperation holds a workshop in Guinea on the integration and empowerment of persons with disabilities

The General Secretariat will hold, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Work and the Empowerment of Women and Children, in the Republic of Guinea, and the Center for Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training for Islamic Countries in Ankara (SESRIC), an expert-level workshop on integrating and empowering people with disabilities, in the capital, Conakry, on December 23 and 24, 2019.

The workshop comes in the framework of the implementation of the relevant ministerial resolutions issued, which recommend the development of an OIC policy on the elderly and another policy on people with special needs, which would provide strategies and guidelines for Member States to ensure the well-being and social security of these groups.

The workshop will discuss models relating to the protection of persons with disabilities, a review of the privacy of persons with disabilities in Member States, a presentation on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and a draft OIC Plan of Action on disabled persons. The General Secretariat, in cooperation with SESRIC, prepared a draft OIC action plan on persons with disabilities and special needs, which represents a comprehensive plan of action for OIC countries in order to face challenges in social and economic life and increase their participation in the development of their societie,
