Al Othaimeen: Intra-Islamic Trade Register a 7% Growth

OIC Secretary General, Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, affirmed that the social and economic cooperative avenues among the Member States have registered an increase at the level of all benchmarks, noting that intra-Islamic trade, compared to total foreign trade, had witnessed a 7% growth between 2017 and 2018, reaching 381.4 billion US Dollars against the earlier figure of 322.2 billion.

The message was included in the Secretary General’s address to the thirty fifth session of the OIC ministerial committee for economic and trade cooperation (COMCEC) held in Istanbul on 27 November 2019 under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Rajab Tayeb Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey.

Al Othaimeen applauded the consistent growth in the field of trade financing with the intensified efforts made for the promotion of intra-Islamic investments in all economic spheres, and paid tribute, in this respect, to the IDB Group and to the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry for their positive efforts.
