The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation condemns terrorist attack in Burkina Faso

The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, has vigorously condemned the terrorist attack perpetrated on Sunday 27 January 2019, in the village of Sikire in the north of Burkina Faso, which claimed the lives of at least 10 innocent civilians.

The Secretary General indicated that the perpetrators of this terrorist act must be subjected to legal prosecution and held accountable for their crimes. He extended his solidarity and condolences to the families of the victims, to the government of Burkina Faso as well as G5 Sahel countries engaged in the fight against terrorism in the region.

Dr. Al-Othaimeen reiterated the OIC’s principled position denouncing all acts of terrorism no matter what the justifications are, calling upon the international partners of the Sahel region to redouble their efforts in supporting all the countries of the region.
