Date: 26/12/2018

In a paper presented on 25 December 2018 at the symposium which was organized within the framework of the festivities of the 33rd edition of Al Janadria national festival for cultural heritage under the theme of “Saudi Diplomacy and Regional and International Stability”, H.E. the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Dr. Yousef Al. Othaimeen, addressed the subject of “Saudi Diplomacy’s Islamic Dimension”. Al Othaimeen said that, since the Kingdom’s unification at the hands of its founder, the late King Abdulaziz Bin Abdurrahara Al Saud, may God bless his soul, and down to the present reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God grant him long life, Saudi Arabia has always consecrated its resources for the service of the Islamic Ummah whose causes it adopted as a fundamental building block in its policy.

The Secretary General further noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been a pioneer in Islamic solidarity, offering sustained support to Islamic causes as well reflected in its foreign policy and international stands. He stressed, too, that the Kingdom’s geographical position along with the fact that it hosts the Two Holy Mosques and follows the divine law (Shariaa), has accorded it a leadership position in the Islamic World.

Dr. Al Othaimeen, went on to state that the policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is built on the fundaments of good neighborhood and non-interference in the domestic affairs of other countries, and that a key feature in this respect has been the Kingdom’s adherence to the principle of consolidating relations with the Islamic States and promoting Islamic solidarity.

The Secretary General also stated that, since its establishment, the OIC has consistently benefited of the nurturance and keen interest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the seat of its own headquarters and also of those of many of its subsidiary, affiliated and specialized institutions.

Al-Othaimeen also expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to the Government of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, and HRH Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz, may Allah grant them protection, for all the support they have been extending to the OIC so that it may go on fulfilling its duties in the service of the Islamic causes, foremost of which the cause of Palestine and Al Quds Al Sharif, along with the issues of Muslim communities and the issues of terrorism and violent extremism, through a wide range of institutions, both regional and international rules.

The Secretary General further pointed out that the blissful achievements witnessed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the start of the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah preserve him, have been influenced by the Saudi diplomacy in its Islamic dimension. He further noted that, from the beginning, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques successfully accelerated the momentum of reform in the Kingdom’s strategies, thus in creating real growth and prosperity which accorded the Kingdom a stronger position at the international level. The most prominent feature of the policy pursued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques since he came to power has been the Islamic dimension of his achievements which, Dr. Al Othaimeen pointed out, are all closely entertwined with the Kingdom’s vision 2030 spearheaded by His Majesty, King Salman, and which constitutes the flagship of the reform process witnessed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the advent of his auspicious reign.
